Aflac Affordable Dental Insurance is a Passive PPO Plan

  • Aflac dental insurance is a passive PPO plan, making it more affordable than most health insurance plans.

  • Dental insurance covers both regular and emergency dental care, saving you money compared to paying out of pocket.

  • Patients can visit a regular dentist instead of a constantly changing emergency room staff.

  • Policyholders pay the same deductible, coinsurance, and annual plan maximums, regardless of whether they choose an in-network or out-of-network dental provider.

  • Although you can choose any dental provider, using in-network providers is recommended to reduce out-of-pocket costs, as out-of-network providers may charge higher fees.

Aflac affordable dental insurance offers a cost-effective solution for regular and emergency dental care. As a passive PPO, it gives policyholders the flexibility to choose their dentist, while encouraging the use of in-network providers to minimize extra costs. With the same deductible, coinsurance, and annual maximums, it’s a straightforward way to manage your dental expenses.

How Much Does it Cost?

Rates vary by state, but the Core Plan typically costs around $50 per month.

With the Core Plan, policyholders will receive:

  • An annual maximum benefit of $1,000 in year one, $1,250 in year two, and $1,500 in year three.

  • An annual deductible of $75 in year one, $50 in year two, and $25 in year three.

  • 100% coverage for preventive dental care from day one.

  • 50% coverage for basic dental services after the 6-month waiting period, increasing to 60% coverage in years two and three.

  • Major dental care coverage of 50% in years two and three (not covered in year one).

The Core Plan provides an affordable way to receive comprehensive dental care over time. With increasing benefits and decreasing deductibles, you can expect significant coverage for preventive and basic dental services, as well as major dental care in the second and third years.

Why Should I Get Regular Dental Care?

Getting regular dental care offers numerous benefits, not just for your teeth, but for your overall health. The health of your mouth can directly affect the function of your heart and other important bodily systems. Poor dental health has been linked to serious medical conditions like diabetes, heart disease, strokes, and lung conditions, as bacteria from an infected mouth can spread to other parts of the body, causing severe issues.

With affordable dental insurance, you and your family can establish a routine of good oral healthcare with a trusted dental team. It’s especially important for children to learn healthy habits like brushing, flossing, and keeping up with regular dental checkups from an early age, as these habits can contribute to lifelong good health.

Plus, with our dental plan, there are no excuses not to visit the dentist anymore!

Add Vision and Hearing Benefits

With the Aflac Core and Elite dental plans, you can choose to add vision and hearing benefits. These options include annual vision exams with a $10 copay and a $75 reimbursement for an annual hearing exam with no waiting period. Depending on your plan, you may also receive allowances for frames, contact lenses, hearing aids, and repairs, with some plans having a waiting period.

These added benefits make it easier for you to maintain both your oral and overall health under one plan.

FAQ’s About Dental Insurance

Dental insurance is similar to health coverage, but it focuses on your teeth, gums, and other parts of your mouth. It is a contract between you and a provider, offering financial assistance for dental services in exchange for a monthly premium. The main purpose is to act as a buffer between you and the potentially high, unattainable out-of-pocket costs for dental care.

Dental insurance is essential because it helps you receive regular oral care, which is crucial for maintaining overall health. Poor dental health is linked to serious conditions such as diabetes and heart problems. Regular visits to the dentist ensure that minor issues don't turn into major problems and allow you to establish a relationship with a trusted dental professional who understands your family’s specific needs.

Some health plans include dental coverage, typically for an additional fee. However, if your health plan doesn’t cover dental or if you don’t have health insurance, you can purchase affordable dental insurance separately to ensure you are covered for oral care.

With Aflac dental, you can choose any dental provider. The benefits remain the same whether you select an in-network or out-of-network provider. However, keep in mind that out-of-network providers might charge more, leading to higher out-of-pocket costs.

A dental deductible is the amount you must pay before your insurer starts covering the costs. With Aflac dental, your deductible decreases each year, up to year three. For example, in year one, it may be $75, in year two $50, and in year three $25, which remains the same for the remainder of your plan.

Dental implants are covered under specific circumstances, but braces are generally not covered by Aflac dental plans. Coverage for implants depends on individual needs and eligibility.

Aflac accepts several payment methods, including online payments, bank account transfers, credit cards, and checks sent through the mail.
